What is Fairtrade?
Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.

What about “fair trade” in services industry? Can we talk about fair trade for contractors?
If big companies are always working with big consultancy companies, and those consultancy companies are subcontracting to other consultancy companies, and the people who actually do the work, create the value, are paid a fraction of the actual money flow between the client and contractor-subcontractor companies, this should make us think about “is there fair trade” in services industry?”
As there is absolutely no control, standard or regulation in “fairness” of contracting and sub-contracting, this situation works for the benefit of corporations, but not for individuals.
